Custom Paper Converting

Custom Paper Converting, Configured Around Your Production.

Slitting, rewinding, custom packaging, and customer-owned inventory — one contract converting relationship built around your specification, not a single transaction.

What Is Custom Paper Converting

One Relationship, Every Step Covered

Custom paper converting is the umbrella term for everything we do to turn a roll of paper into exactly the product your operation needs: slitting to width, rewinding to a new core or diameter, packaging to your specification, and — when it makes sense — holding inventory on your behalf and releasing it on your schedule.

Manufacturers use contract converting because building that capability in-house rarely makes sense for a single line item. It is more efficient to specify what you need and let a dedicated converter handle the width changes, the core changes, the packaging, and the scheduling around it. New to working with a converter? Start with our plain-English guide to paper converting.

That is the difference between converting and custom converting: the process adapts to your specification and your production schedule, not the other way around.

How It Works

From Specification to Finished, Packaged Product

Every converting order moves through the same seven steps, whether it is a single roll or an ongoing program.

Step 1

Specification

You provide material type, width, core, diameter, quantity, and packaging requirements — for a single order or an ongoing program.

Step 2

Receiving

Parent rolls or customer-owned material arrive at our Beaver Dam facility and are logged into inventory.

Step 3

Setup

Our team configures the converter for the operation your order requires — slitting, rewinding, or both.

Step 4

Converting

Material is slit to width, rewound to a new core or diameter, or both, on one of our five rewinder/slitters.

Step 5

Quality Verification

Finished rolls are checked against tolerance — ±1/32″ width, ±1% length, ±1/2″ outside diameter.

Step 6

Packaging

Rolls are packaged to your specification: cradle packaging, individually wrapped, or blind shipment.

Step 7

Fulfillment

Finished product ships immediately or is held in a customer-owned inventory program and released on your schedule. Customers arrange all inbound and outbound freight.

Quality & Process Control

One Standard, Regardless of the Job

Whether your order is slit to width, rewound to a new core, or both in the same pass, every run is checked against the same tolerances before it is packaged:

  • Width tolerance keeps converted rolls running true on automated equipment
  • Length tolerance keeps roll counts and yield predictable
  • Outside diameter tolerance keeps rolls within your equipment limits

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Custom Converting Questions

What is custom paper converting?

Custom paper converting is the broader process of transforming paper rolls to a customer's exact specification — including slitting to width, rewinding to a new core or diameter, custom packaging, and the inventory and fulfillment support that go with a production relationship, rather than a single transaction.

Can you slit and rewind the same order?

Yes. Every converter on our floor can slit to width and rewind to a new core or diameter in a single pass, so an order that needs both does not require two separate setups.

Can you convert material I already own?

Yes. We convert customer-supplied rolls as contract work — you provide the material and your specification, and we handle the slitting, rewinding, and packaging.

Do you offer customer-owned inventory programs?

Yes. We can hold your material or converted product at our Beaver Dam facility and release it on your production schedule, reducing your on-site storage and lead times.

What packaging options are available?

Cradle packaging, individually wrapped rolls, and blind shipment with your branding. Tell us your packaging requirement when you request a quote and we will configure the order around it.

What information do you need to start a converting program?

Material type and grade, target width, core size, and roll diameter, expected volume, packaging requirements, and whether you need ongoing inventory support. Our quote form walks through each of these.

Ready to Set Up Your Converting Program?

Tell us your material, specification, and volume and our team will respond with a detailed quote within one business day.
